The Grand View Ship Hotelwas one of the most famous attractions along the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental automobile route linking the east and west coasts of the United States.

The Lost Children of the Alleghenieswere two young brothers who wandered away from their Bedford County home inApril,1856and perished in the nearby mountains, despite a massive search effort to save them.
